Blessings of Nature, Okuizumo

Okuizumo is a “Oku-no-Sato (silent village)” located about 1 hour by car from Izumo City, which faces the Sea of Japan. It is a wide and bright basin surrounded by mountains. In the past, high-quality iron sand was produced in this area, and the ancient Japanese iron-manufacturing method “Tatara” was actively practiced. The quarries that cleared the mountains to obtain iron sand have now become sun-drenched terraced rice fields that stretch along the beautiful hills. It is a production area of delicious rice called “Nitamai”, which is the only rice in western Japan that has been ranked “Special A”, which is made of good pure water and fertile land. In addition to rice, it is a mountain village rich in the blessings of nature such as Okuizumo Shiitake Mushrooms, Yokota Ko-soba moodle, and Japanese sake called Nita Mai Koshihikari Junmai Daiginjo.

Mysterious old shrine where gods gather “Izumo Taisha”, sacred mountain “Mt. Hiba”

Shimane Prefecture is famous for Izumo Taisha shrine and also famous as the stage of the story of “Izumo no kuni Fudoki, Kunibiki Myth” (a book that summarizes myths commissioned by the Japanese emperor in year 713 and completed in year 733). Relating to that old myth, the famous mountain “Mt. Sanbe” is located in the south of the property. It is a sacred mountain where the god of creation “Izanami no Mikoto” is said to have been buried, according to the “Kojiki” (a Japan’s oldest history book including Japanese mythology).
Volcanic activity from 1.3 million years ago formed one end of the Chugoku Mountains, and it is said that a strong magnetic field is generated in which compass magnets do not indicate the correct direction due to the ancient reversal magnetism. At the foot of the mountain, you can see the natural beauty of the basalt columnar joints (one of the largest in Japan, with a depth of 130m), and it has a history of being worshiped since ancient times as a power spot with powerful magnetic energy.
Demand for drinking water is expected to rise further in the future

The per capita consumption of mineral water in Japan is increasing year by year. It can be easily assumed that the demand for drinking water not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries will grow further in the future.
Okuizumo has a lot of rain and is covered with snow in winter. Rain and snow seep into the granite containing magnetite, creating natural mineral water that has been filtered through the strata over time. The water source (water pumping well) is managed separately at a different location near the factory. The estimated daily volume of groundwater pumped up from 150m underground is 200 tons. And you can also utilize natural spring water estimated daily volume of 100 tons.
Drinking water manufacturing plant newly built in July 2013

The property is located in the southeastern part of Shimane Prefecture, approximately one hour by car from Izumo City and Matsue City, where Tottori Prefecture and Hiroshima Prefecture meet across the Ridge of the Chugoku Mountains. It takes about 2 hours by car to Hiroshima City and the Setouchi district. Approximately 1,154 square meters (12,421.55 sqft) of factories are well-balanced on a site of 5,515 square meters (59,362.96 sqft), making it easy for large vehicles to enter and carry out products. Sakaiminato (trade port) is about 1 hour and 45 minutes away by car and it could be the best place for shipping overseas.
The factory built in July 2013 has a production line for water server containers of 7 or 12 Liters. It is fully equipped with an office room, a meeting room, a dining room, toilets for men and women separated, changing rooms for men and women, a water-quality inspection room, and a night duty room, so you can start production immediately.
The factory and production lines are currently closed, so if you wish to visit the site, you will need to make an appointment in advance to arrange power supply and personnel to demonstrate the production. Please note that it is strictly prohibited to contact the local factory directly or the company regarding this matter.
